Tappan Zee Bridge Replacement
New York Metro Area
The Tappan Zee Bridge Replacement is the first major design-build project undertaken by New York State and is on track to be delivered for $1 billion less than Federal Highway Administration estimates. The cost savings were realized through a well-structured competitive process and the deployment of specialized technologies that include a low-draft, barge-mounted super crane. Concurrent procurement and environmental review processes conducted under a White House “dashboard” shortened the delivery schedule and are a national model for infrastructure delivery.
